DO RIGHT

WHAT SHOULD IT TAKE FOR A SAVED PERSON TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT ?

IS IT INSTRUCTION ? IT IS A DESIRE FOR AN ANSWER TO PRAYER ? IS IT A CRISIS EXPERIENCE ?

WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR YOU TO DO RIGHTEOUSLY ?

SOME PEOPLE TITHE BECAUSE THEY WANT AN INCREASE.

SOME PEOPLE FORGIVE BECAUSE THEY WANT TO BE FORGIVEN.

SOME PEOPLE HELP OTHERS BECAUSE THEY WILL EARN CREDITS IN HEAVEN.

Psalm 15:1-2 «A Psalm of David.» LORD, who shall abide in Thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in Thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.

1. DO RIGHT BECAUSE GOD COMMANDS IT.

Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God ?

2. WE DO RIGHT BECAUSE WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE GRACE OF GOD, WE KNOW HOW GOOD IT FEELS, AND WE WANT TO SHARE GOD’S GRACE WITH OTHERS.

Titus 2:11-14 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

3. DO RIGHT OUT OF RESPECT TO GOD.

NOT BECAUSE YOU WANT SOME REWARD. GOD WANTS US TO BE AWARE THAT HE WILL REWARD US, BUT HE DOESN’T WANT US DOING RIGHT BECAUSE WE WILL GET REWARDED FOR IT. WE SHOULD DO RIGHT BECAUSE WE HONOR HIM AND HIS PERFECT WILL.

Micah 3:11-12 The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us. Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.

4. DO RIGHT BECAUSE IT IS THE BEST WAY TO DO THINGS.

YOU CAN’T BE AN EFFECTIVE CHRISTIAN AND LIVE LIKE THE WORLD.

–IT MAKES OTHER OBSERVE AND NOTICE A BETTER WAY TO DO THINGS.

Romans 16:19 For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.

5. DO RIGHT EVEN WHEN PEOPLE DON’T APPRECIATE IT.

Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

**The Prophets were not appreciated. They were hated for their love and compassion for Israel. But, their focus was on pleasing God, not men.

6. WE DO RIGHT BECAUSE DOING RIGHT IS AN ACTION FROM GOD.

JOHANAN WAS WILLING TO DO WHATEVER GOD SAID TO DO. A GOOD EXAMPLE FOR US TODAY.

Jeremiah 42:4-6 Then Jeremiah the prophet said unto them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray unto the LORD your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass, that whatsoever thing the LORD shall answer you, I will declare it unto you; I will keep nothing back from you. Then they said to Jeremiah, The LORD be a true and faithful witness between us, if we do not even according to all things for the which the LORD thy God shall send thee to us. Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God, to whom we send thee; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of the LORD our God.
