IT IS THE EMPTY, ACHING HEART THAT CRAVES SOMETHING MORE, NOT THE HEART THAT IS FULL.
THE REASON MORE PEOPLE ARE NOT SEEKING GOD IS BECAUSE THEY DON’T HAVE EMPTY HEARTS, BUT LIVES THAT ARE BUSY AND FILLED EVERY MINUTE. SO MUCH SO THAT THEY CANNOT EVEN THINK ABOUT ETERNITY !
WHAT DO YOU ALLOW TO FILL YOUR HEART ?
1. FILLED WITH THE RIGHT THINGS…IF WE RECEIVE THEM BY FAITH.
A. MY MOUTH.
Psalms 71:8 Let my mouth be filled with Thy praise and with Thy honour all the day.
Psalms 104:28 That Thou givest them they gather: Thou openest Thine hand, they are filled with good.
Psalms 123:4 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.
B. YOUR ENTIRE BEING CAN BE FILLED WITH JOY.
Acts 13:52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.
C. WE CAN BE FILLED WITH COMFORT.
2 Corinthians 7:4 Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation.
D. WE CAN BE FILLED WITH THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD.
Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
E. FILLED WITH THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD (LET YOUR ACTIONS ALL BE CALCULATED TO DO GOOD FOR HIM).
Romans 15:14 And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.
F. OUR BEHAVIOR IS DETERMINED BY WHAT WE THINK ABOUT.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
If you choose to think about what someone else may or may not have done to you, your talk, your attitude, your peace, your joy, your every relationship with God will be affected.
–MAKING YOURSELF OBSESSED WITH WHAT OTHER PEOPLE DO OR MIGHT NOT DO WILL BRING YOU PAIN AND MISERY. YOU WILL LITERALLY MAKE YOURSELF SICK.
–IF YOU HAVE A PHYSICAL DNA WEAKNESS, YOU WILL BRING IT TO THE SURFACE, AND MAKE IT FAR FAR WORSE. PEOPLE CAN SEE BY BEHAVIOR WHAT IS ON A PERSON’S HEART, REGARDLESS WHAT HE ACTUALLY SAYS WITH THE TONGUE.
Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
–THINK ABOUT THE GOOD THINGS WHICH OTHERS DO. THINK ABOUT THE BLESSING TO KNOW THEY ARE SAVED. TO DO OTHERWISE TAKES AWAY FROM GOD. BECAUSE HE IS THE ONE WHO DID THE GOOD THINGS THROUGH THEM, AND WHO SAVED THEM. TO OVERLOOK THAT AND JUST DWELL ON A PERSON’S FAULTS IS WRONG.
2. FILLED WITH THE WRONG THINGS….NATURALLY, BY DOING NOTHING.
A. WITH THE DEVICES OF THE SINFUL HEART.
Proverbs 1:30-31 They would none of my counsel, they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
B. WITH THE WILL THAT COMES FROM THE FALLEN NATURE.
Proverbs 14:14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
3. CONSEQUENCES.
A. CONSEQUENCES TO BEING FILLED WITH THE WRONG THINGS.
Haggai 1:6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.
B. CONSEQUENCES TO BEING FILLED WITH BAD THINGS LEADS TO MORE BAD ACTIONS.
Luke 6:11 And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.
