GOD GAVE US EARS SO THAT WE MIGHT HEAR SOUNDS THAT ARE IMPORTANT.

***The sound of rattles from a rattle snake are important.   The sound of a fire truck , the sound of gun fire, etc. all are important to heed.   THE SOUND OF AN ANIMAL IN DISTRESS.  THESE ARE THINGS TO WHICH WE MUST REACT.

GOD HAS NO PROBLEM COMMUNICATING IN ANY WAY HE CHOOSES.

Deuteronomy 4:36 Out of heaven He made thee to hear His voice, that He might instruct thee: and upon earth He shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest His words out of the midst of the fire.

WE HAVE TO KNOW HIS VOICE AS DISTINCTIVE FROM ALL OTHERS.

1 Corinthians 14:7  And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?

1. SOUNDS OF FAITH.

A. THE SOUNDS OF FAITH.

Joshua 6:5 And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.
Joshua 6:20 So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

B. THE SOUND OF GOD’S CALL TO US.

1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

C. THE SOUNDS OF JOY. WITH INSTRUMENTS, BUT ALSO WITH OUR VOICES.

1 Chronicles 16:42 And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.

2. THE SOUND OF A JOYFUL NOISE.

Psalms 66:1 «To the chief Musician, A Song or Psalm.» Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands:
Psalms 81:1 «To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of Asaph.» Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.
Psalms 95:1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
Psalms 95:2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
Psalms 98:4 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.
Psalms 98:6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.
Psalms 100:1 «A Psalm of praise.» Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

3. SOUNDS WHEN GOD JUDGES NATIONS. (EGYPT).

Ezekiel 31:16 I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth.

Other nations will fear when God brings judgment. They can hear it coming.

  • SOUNDS OF EVENTS GETTING CLOSER.

1 Kings 18:41 And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. The famine was about to stop. God was going to judge the false religion of Baal even further.

4. THE SOUNDS OF WARNING FOR JUDGMENT COMING SOON.

Believe the Messenger when you hear the Spirit of God ! The Messenger was supposed to explain the meaning of the trumpet. He had a responsibility to warn the people.

Ezekiel 33:4-5 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.
Hebrews 3:6-8 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear His voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

5. THE SOUNDS OF THIS WORLD.

Daniel 3:10 Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image:

DON’T GO ALONG WITH SOUNDS THE WORLD MAKES, EVEN IF THEY COME BY LAWS OF MEN.

6. THE SOUND OF GOD’S VOICE SHOULD BE TREASURED AND RESPECTED ABOVE ALL SOUNDS.

DON’T BE LUKEWARM.

Revelation 3:22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

WHAT DO YOU THINK HE IS SAYING TO YOU NOW ?

Luke 9:35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear Him.

BE SAVED. BE RIGHT WITH GOD.

  • WE MUST HEAR, BUT MORE THAN HEAR ! WE MUST ACT UPON WHAT WE HEAR. ***WHAT GOOD IS IT TO HEAR THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVICT YOU OF SIN IF YOU IGNORE HIS WORDS, AND COME BACK THE NEXT SUNDAY TO HEAR THE SAME THING FROM THE SPIRIT, ONLY TO IGNORE HIM AGAIN !

James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

I SEE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME, WHEN THEIR PHONE GIVES A SOUND THAT A TEXT MESSAGE HAS COME IN, THEY JUMP. THEY MOST OFTEN WILL STOP WHATEVER CONVERSATION THEY WERE IN, AND ANSWER THAT SOUND.

UNTIL WE AS CHRISTIANS RESPOND TO THE SOUND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT LIKE THAT, WE WILL CONTINUE TO HURL HURT AND PAIN AT THE DEAR LORD WHO SAVED US !
