WHEN THE DEVIL ATTACKS…WHAT DO YOU DO ?

1. How do you know if demons are attacking you ?
A. Unexplained depression
B. Unexplained thoughts
C. Anger towards God’s people
D. Desire to quit serving God.
E. Overall depression
F. Certain medical problems

2. Find out where they came from.
A. Demons from a person will do the same thing to another person.
(Demons are specialists) Mark 9:17, Luke 13:11, Acts 16:16
B. Enables you to avoid, or fortify against the source.
– If not in God-given confrontation with the person, avoid them.
– If in direct God-ordered confrontation with them, defeat them.

3. Find out why they chose you.
A. Demons are like buzzards. They are looking for something that can offer
little or no resistance.
B. Demons are like soldiers. They look for those who are most dangerous to them.
C. If you know you fit into either of these categories, you might be attacked.

4. Check out your spiritual relationship with God.
A. It’s hard to be honest when you want to blame others for your weakness
and lack of determination. Ps. 64:4
B. It’s hard to accomplish your goal for God when you don’t realize
you’re going in the wrong direction.

5. Have others check you out spiritually.
A. The Word of God is like a sword – it reveals much. Heb. 4:12
B. The Holy Spirit reminds us of things we need to know. John 14:26
C. The help of truly mature (not just in age) Christians can show us things
we would not want to admit to ourselves. Ps. 107:11

ARE YOU A SPIRITUAL POW ??? (PRISONER OF WAR)

1. The illusion of being captured? – An optical illusion ?
A. The devil’s power is over-estimated by most. Rev. 12:9
B. The devil takes advantage of weaknesses that are not fully turned over
to the Lord. 2 Tim. 2:26 How can this happen to a Christian ?
– Obviously not depending on God’s power.
– Obviously not aware of the danger.
– Obviously, not willing to do what is necessary to stop their defeat.
C. Often results from not seeing the whole picture. Forgetting, or putting away
the whole view of the battle. John 4:35
– Disciples were interested in food, not the needs of the people.
Jesus redirects their vision.

2. The devil actually does capture some people.
A. Miracles to deceive. Rev. 13:14
B. Self-deception. James 1:22
C. We can be unsuspecting because of the people he uses. People close to us
can be the instruments of deception the devil uses. 2 Tim. 3:13
D. Some lost the power they once had. (Lack of discipline, lack of praying,
lack of faithfulness, etc.)
– In practice, they deny the power of Christ over the flesh. 2 John 1:7

3. The devil can be overcome.
Ye are of God,little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He
that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4

THE ENEMY WITHIN

If We Can’t Win On Our Own Ground, How Can We Expect To Be Effective Elsewhere ?

1. A non-submissive spirit can bring agony.
A. Job’s spirit goes on the basis of sight for a while. This always brings disaster.
Job 7:11
B. Asaph’s spirit refused to be comforted until he searched the past faithfulness
of the Lord.
*Many times people will forget God’s faithfulness in past years.
Psalms 77:3

2. A lack of understanding can bring the searching soul agony.
A. It is solved by submission to those who know the answers. Daniel 7:15
– So what did Daniel do ? He asked those who knew.
B. It can endure while waiting for the answer. Why ? Because we want everything
immediately.
– God does not have to provide things immediately. Psalms 143:7
C. Journeys of faith can cause the spirit to become agitated. Ezek. 3:14

3. The spirit can be stubborn in its approach to the work of God.
A. It can be selfish, self-centered. 1 Cor. 14:14
B. It can be distracting, keeping the attentions away from what is really important.
2 Cor. 2:13

4. The redeemed spirit when right with God, naturally rejoices in God.
A. Mary’s spirit. Luke 1:47
– *God can use people to refresh the spirit. DOES HE USE YOU ?
1 Cor. 16:18

SW – ARE YOU UNDER THE INFLUENCE ?

WHAT INFLUENCES THE SPIRIT
OF MAN ?


1. THE FLESH.

2. HIS MIND.

3. OUTSIDE THINGS.
– IF HE IS LOST: people, demons, conditions
– IF HE IS SAVED: THE SPIRIT OF GOD

IF HE FOLLOWS ANY INFLUENCE OTHER THAN
THE SPIRIT OF GOD, HE WILL BECOME AN ENEMY
OF THE WORK OF THE LORD.

…Because the carnal mind is enmity against God:
for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Romans 8:7
