1. What is His Name ?
A. Not a ‘recent’ revelation.
– Hebrew is ‘Jehovah’ = in English, ‘LORD’ (all caps)
Gen. 2:4 He created all things. Eph. 3:9, Col. 1:16
B. Although one God, He has chosen to be known by several names. Exodus 6:3
(EL SHADDAI) Is. 7:14
2. His name is an expression of Who He is.
A. Is. 9:6 Presents several names.
B. Other names are not fully understood. (Psalm 68:4)
Rev. 19:12, Ex. 3:14, Judges 13:18
C. His Names are limited to those He Himself chooses to use. Acts 4:12
D. He is part of Israel, placing His Name there. Num. 6:23-27
(Isra-el, the Name ‘EL’ is shortened from ‘ELOHIM’) 2 Chron. 7:14
3. Great benefits to those who seek to know His Name better.
A. Blessings of healing and safety. Mal. 4:2
B. Where 2 or 3 are gathered in His Name – His presence is there. Matt. 18:20
C. It gains access to the innermost person of God. John 14:13

1. Great benefits to those who seek to know His Name better.
A. Blessings of healing and safety. Mal. 4:2
B. Where 2 or 3 are gathered in His Name – His presence is there. Matt. 18:20
C. It gains access to the innermost Person of God. John 14:13
D. It reminds us to stay faithful. Ex. 34:14
2. Knowing Him helps to understand our own place.
A. Lower than the angels. (Lit.=”for a little while lower than the angels.”)
*Speaks both of Jesus and the saved.
B. Made to have all things under His feet. Gen. 1:26, 2 Tim. 2:12, Rev. 20:6
– Dominion over other people. Judges 5:12 & 13, Gen. 27:40, Rev. 1:6
– In Millennium, Col. 3:20, Eph. 5:22, Heb. 13:17
– Yet modern man can’t even make his kids obey. Many times Believers allow
circumstances to dictate life’s path, rather than actual
submission to God. Heb. 12:9
C. Crowned with glory and honor.
– All good things come through the Lord. James 1:17
– If He is seen in us, we radiate His glory. I Pet. 4:14
– Honor requires actions some are not willing to give. 2 Tim. 2:20-21
