– Part 1 –

THE CHALLENGE TO GET MORE

Peace, joy, love and blessings often appear to be satisfying in themselves, but there is a deeper dimension.

1. Know the depths of God’s blessings. (Jer. 33:6)
A. Peace can be deeper.
– It can be imagined. Ezek. 13:16
– It can be a sacrifice. 1 Sam. 10:8
– It can be temporary. John 14:27
– It can be a process. Luke 1:79
– It can be a contentment in everything. 2 Thes. 3:16
– It can be in abundance. (Jer. 33:6)
B. Joy can be deeper.
– It may lack full understanding. Luke 1:14
– It may lack security. Ps. 51:12
– Fullness of joy. Ps. 16:11, John 15:11
C. Truth can be deeper. Rom. 11:33
– Can be without knowledge. Deut. 1:39
– Can be a special gift. 1 Cor. 12:8

2. Know the depths of God Himself. (Jer. 33:7-8)
A. The giver of gifts is more important than the gift.
– It is a person who brings these things. Gal. 5:22, Eph. 3:19, Phil. 3:10
B. Dangers in just knowing “what He does” rather than “who He is.” John 6:26

– Part 2 –
WHEN GOD SAYS, “I WILL ANSWER YOU.”

Do you assume that God will answer immediately just because you call ? You could be setting yourself up for a big disappointment !

1. God’s offer to communicate with him should not be taken lightly.
A. In our walk with Him. Micah 6:8
B. God demands of us. Acts 17:30
C. We must come in light of who we are in the sight of God, not man.
Luke 18:14, 14:11

2. Just because we hear God speak does not mean we get the total blessing.
A. Conviction can be ignored. 2 Thes. 2:12
B. We can respond without faith. Mark 16:14
C. We can respond with our own will. Jonah 4:7

3. Sometimes God answers only at what seems to us to be “the last minute.”
A. In times of trouble and crisis.
John 11:43 – Lazarus
Matt. 21:14 – They could have said, “Why didn’t he prevent these things in the
first place?” – *See also: Psalms 50:15, Mark 13:11
B. In time of need. Heb. 4:16

What is man that Thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? Psalm 8:4

– Part 3 –
IF YE CAN BREAK MY COVENANT OF THE DAY

In a world of untrustworthy words, we have a sure anchor in the promises of God !

1. The certainty of God’s promises. (Jer. 33:20)
A. The nature of God will not permit lying. Titus 1:2, Hebrews 6:18
B. The nature of God is orderly, truthful. 1 Cor. 14:33

2. Interpreting God’s promises.
A. Must know what was really said. John 8:42
B. Must know the context.
– Who was it promised to ?
– For what time was it promised ?
C. Must meet any conditions.
– Some promises conditional (like requiring faith)
– Some promises without conditions (It doesn’t matter what you believe,
it is going to happen.)

3. Promises easily misunderstood.
A. Salvation. Acts 16:31, Matt. 7:21, Matt. 25:11, Luke 6:46
B. Baptism. Mark 16:16, Luke 23:42
C. Tongues. Mark 16:17, 1 Cor. 12:10
D. Healing. Matt. 8:16, 2 Cor. 12:7
E. Desires. Psalm 37:4, Gen. 3:6
F. Prayer. John 14:13, Matt. 7:7, James 4:3
